Zusammenfassung:Surfactant‐directed functionalization is a promising tool for enabling the targeted modification of two‐dimensional nanomaterials and opening up a whole new spectrum of exciting chemistry. As discussed by C. Backes et al. in their Research Article on page 13785, an investigation of the heterogeneous reaction of chloroauric acid at the nanosheet–solution interface has revealed that the surfactant plays a significant role in governing the reactivity of the nanomaterial and consequently determines the outcome of the functionalization.
