description This chapter focuses on the future of supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC) and shows the number of publications with SFC. The birth of modern SFC occurred in the mid‐ to late‐1990s with the introduction of preparative SFC equipment targeting pharmaceutical purification. The introduction of modern analytical SFC equipment in the 2010s facilitated the expansion of SFC from predominantly pharmaceutical discovery laboratories into areas requiring higher precision validated equipment and methods. The expansion of SFC usage and research into additional countries is a positive sign for the future of the technology. There are still a number of “hoped‐for” technical advances in SFC that the authors believe would help make SFC more widely applicable, more powerful and more user friendly. An avenue for sharing learnings and experiences with a technology is scientific conferences.
