Towards the Minimal Self of an Autonomous System

This chapter presents the two major characteristics of the modeling by disclosing the architecture of a proto‐self that intentionally generates representations of what the system apprehends and assesses under its tendencies. It also provides the precise architecture of a minimal self, the system being able to conceive that it manages representations on its own, perceives them, stores them in its organizational memory and can reuse them. Defining tendencies in the interpretation system is essential for enabling the system's autonomy in relation with a behavior based exclusively on cause and effect relations. A system can be considered autonomous if it has a tendency expression component leading to systematic production of representations according to particular tonalities, to the generation and expression of needs, desires, and therefore, producing the intentions. Finally, the chapter addresses the functioning of the emotional processes of the minimal self interpretation system.
