Zusammenfassung:[Display omitted] The advent of novel sensitive materials coupling with effective instrumentation technology paves the path for significant growth in fabrication methods of various practically viable biosensors. Quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) has emerged as one of the most popular biosensing devices through some of the well-crafted researches for the past 10–15 years. A systematic review of the most recent developments in QCM research as a biosensing tool with the help of a few basic studies is depicted in this article. From an application perspective, the use of QCM as an identification, estimation, and interfacial interaction analyzing method for biomolecules has been explained. Immunosensing characteristics against various microorganisms also have been taken in consideration for preparing the article. Before all, the classification of biosensors and how QCM is related to the general class of biosensors along with the principle and instrumentation of the device is also detailed in the article.
