TOURISM AND TRANSPORT

Given its intensive use of infrastructures, the transport sector is an important component of any destination and a basis for economic development nationally and regionally. In this chapter we examine the different modes of tourism transport and the policy challenges they present. Since tourism transport has a wide range of components we cover all modes, but pay particular attention to aviation. Transport and tourism are complementary industries since both benefit from and foster tourism expansion.
