The gases form in between the tissue web and the transfer surface facilitating transfer of the web onto the fabric. In one particular embodiment, for example, gases are evolved by heating the wet web and then subjecting the web to a suction force. The gases that are evolved from the liquid include gases that were dissolved in the liquid and may include vapors that are also formed during the process, such as water vapor.
