Finding the equation for a vibrating car antenna

There is much pedagogic value to relating everyday observations to complicated equations. As a teacher traces such a relationship and demonstrates how to construct the governing equation, students see how physics is done. Surprisingly, even an ordinary automobile antenna can provide such a lesson.
