Zusammenfassung: | To overcome the mismatch between the incident solar spectrum and the absorption of incident photons, it is required to modify the spectrum. This can be done using a layer of luminescent material that will convert high energy photons into two or more low energy photons (Downconversion) or low energy photons into high energy photons (Upconversion). Different luminescent compounds are used to increase the efficiency of solar cells. With advancement of PV technology, suitable material synthesis for a particular PV cell is required. In this paper, different Downconversion materials and their use in PV cell technology for increasing efficiency are discussed. |
