The purpose of the study was to analyse family knowledge about pressure injury and prevention. The study used quantitative descriptive methods with questionnaire instruments. Respondents are family caregiver of stroke patient at PKU Muhammadiyah Gamping Hospital, totally 66 people with consecutive sampling. The inclusion criteria were all families who accompany their family members with bed rest condition, could communicate clearly and fluently in Indonesian, aged 17-65 years, could read and write. The results showed that the level of family knowledge about pressure wounds as many as 31 respondents in the good category and the level of knowledge about the prevention of compressed wounds were mostly in category both as many as 35 respondents and the rest in sufficient and less category. Characteristics of respondents in the study were all families who had bedsore patients, more age at the age of 17-44 years, more female gender, more high school education levels, and more work as private, relationships with patients as the most children, the most monthly income with a low category of 43 respondents, 44 respondents had never previously received information about pressure injuries, and 37 inexperienced respondents treated people with previous beds. The level of family knowledge should be kept and maintain continuously for preventing pressure injuries during the patients were cared in the hospital and their home as well through comprehensive and regular health education. |
