description The analysis of design features of silos of various production operated in the territory of our country is presented. As a result of own researches (about ten elevator complexes) the basic potentially dangerous defects and damages of all constructive elements and, especially, the bases of metal silos are established. It was found that the most prone to destruction is the basement of the annular foundation for metal silos. Studies have shown the main causes of the formation and development of defects and damage to the foundations of silos. Recommendations have been developed to eliminate and prevent the formation of these defects and damages.
