description One of the most occurring processes in the environment is combustion, in which fire is the most important and the most destructive discovery of humankind. Most of the residential, forest and industrial fire starts with smoldering and it is accompanied by the fuel and the presence of flow around it. The present study is about the thin fuel being incense stick which is dipped in various high viscous and low viscous liquids. Experiments are carried out to acquire the physical behavior of smoldering combustion under wet conditions, the interaction of solid fuel with different liquids with various viscosities towards the better insight I nto the physical process of smoldering and subsequently its influence on the regression rates. The process of smoldering combustion process varies with different surface orientation and the effect of orientation is also considered. These results will be compared with the standard results of smoldering combustion of an incense stick and would give a better understanding of the physics of smoldering combustion under wet condition. The understanding of the above said phenomenon will reduce the fatalities and fire accidents causing degradation in health conditions and sometimes the loss of life.
