Zusammenfassung:Radioactive 129I is known to have been alive in the early Solar System at an abundance level relative to 127I of 10−4, which is a value much lower than expected from steady-state Galactic nucleosynthesis. We show that shell nucleosynthesis in massive stars is probably an important contributor to the live 129I in the early Solar System, and we consider some details of this nucleosynthesis, especially in the explosive death of a massive star.
