description Frequency dependent complex magnetic permeability of magnetic fluid is determined in the frequency range 0.3 MHz to 3000MHz using Transmission/reflection technique. The effect of externally applied magnetic field on the magnetic permeability of magnetic fluid is studied. The Resonance frequency (fres) and the Absorption frequency (fmax) increases with field strength. By controlling the field strength, one may tune the frequency of maximum absorption in the magnetic fluid for the application like tunable microwave attenuator. Many of its properties like the ferromagnetic resonance frequency, the absorption frequency and the frequency dependence of complex dielectric constant, complex magnetic permeability, loss tangent, power loss, heating rate etc. can be determined for the magnetic fluid in the broad frequency range using this technique.
