In vitro Porphyrin Synthesis by Iron Deficient Erythrocytes.

Conclusions 1. The suboptimal support of porphyrin synthesis in vitro, found with iron deficient erythrocytes is not correctable by addition of inorganic ferrous ions in vitro. 2. Administration of iron to iron deficient individuals restored the porphyrin synthetic capability of their erythrocytes.
