Zusammenfassung:Although both decision aiding and embedded training are new technologies, useful methods and tools are available for development of each. However, while the two technologies are philosophically related, they are programmatically distinct in the military system acquisition process and existing design methodologies are not easily combined. This research is developing an integrated methodology for decision aid and embedded training design that will identify: (1) the steps or sequence of the analysis and design processes, (2) the intermediate results that must be generated at each step, and (3) the tools and databases needed to support successful completion of each step. Furthermore, it will take advantage of the partial overlap in analysis requirements (e.g., identifying human cognitive requirements for system operation) and the potential need for similar functions or components (e.g., process prediction, advice generation) to achieve economies in the design process.
