By installing two different photolabile protecting groups, so-called caging groups, onto two different ligands recruiting Von Hippel–Lindau (VHL) and cereblon (CRBN) E3 ubiquitin ligases, our strategy enables light-triggered protein degradation for any small molecule warhead.
