Periprocedural Monitoring with Regional Cerebral Oxygen Saturation in Carotid Artery Stenting

Hemodynamic instability during and after carotid artery stenting (CAS) may reduce cerebral blood flow (CBF), leading to cerebral ischemia. Introprocedural bradycardia (heart rate &lt;50 bpm) occurred in 21 patients (46%) including one transient cardiac arrest. Intraprocedural hypotension (systolic blood pressure &lt;80 mmHg) occurred in 18 patients (39%), and 16 of them showed prolonged hypotension. Intraprocedural hemodynamic instability resulted in a significant decrease in rSO2, leading to a possible severe cerebral ischemia. In addition, intraprocedural bradycardia/hypotension might be related with postprodedural hyperperfusion, causing the morbidity and mortality after CAS.</description><identifier>ISSN: 1591-0199</identifier><identifier>EISSN: 2385-2011</identifier><identifier>DOI: 10.1177/15910199070130S106</identifier><identifier>PMID: 20566077</identifier><language>eng</language><publisher>London, England: SAGE Publications</publisher><subject>Original</subject><ispartof>Interventional neuroradiology, 2007-03, Vol.13 (1_suppl), p.53-57</ispartof><rights>2007 SAGE Publications</rights><rights>Copyright © 2007, Centauro S.r.l. 2007</rights><lds50>peer_reviewed</lds50><oa>free_for_read</oa><woscitedreferencessubscribed>false</woscitedreferencessubscribed><citedby>FETCH-LOGICAL-c3566-de811f63b7a0b25d5dff56240236059657f1c4403071b29f7114ca661f3ac88b3</citedby><cites>FETCH-LOGICAL-c3566-de811f63b7a0b25d5dff56240236059657f1c4403071b29f7114ca661f3ac88b3</cites></display><links><openurl>$$Topenurl_article</openurl><openurlfulltext>$$Topenurlfull_article</openurlfulltext><thumbnail>$$Tsyndetics_thumb_exl</thumbnail><linktopdf>$$Uhttps://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3345467/pdf/$$EPDF$$P50$$Gpubmedcentral$$H</linktopdf><linktohtml>$$Uhttps://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3345467/$$EHTML$$P50$$Gpubmedcentral$$H</linktohtml><link.rule.ids>230,315,728,781,785,886,21824,27929,27930,43626,43627,53796,53798</link.rule.ids><backlink>$$Uhttps://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20566077$$D View this record in MEDLINE/PubMed$$Hfree_for_read</backlink></links><search><creatorcontrib>Kamii, H.</creatorcontrib><creatorcontrib>Sato, K.</creatorcontrib><creatorcontrib>Matsumoto, Y.</creatorcontrib><creatorcontrib>Furui, E.</creatorcontrib><creatorcontrib>Ezura, M.</creatorcontrib><creatorcontrib>Takahashi, A.</creatorcontrib><title>Periprocedural Monitoring with Regional Cerebral Oxygen Saturation in Carotid Artery Stenting</title><title>Interventional neuroradiology</title><addtitle>Interv Neuroradiol</addtitle><description>Hemodynamic instability during and after carotid artery stenting (CAS) may reduce cerebral blood flow (CBF), leading to cerebral ischemia.
