A Dictyostelium discoideum cDNA coding for a protein with homology to the rat ribosomal protein L7

The authors have isolated and sequences a gene in Dictyostelium discoideum which shows a high degree of similarity to the L7 ribosomal protein of the rat. The DNA and protein sequences have been submitted to EMBL and have accession numbers of X14909 and rp17, respectively. The primary structure of the D. discoideum ribosomal protein RPL7 was determined from the sequence of a cDNA isolated from a lambda gt11 vegetative Dictyostelium library constructed by Graham et al. Using the algorithm of Needleman and Wunsch, the rat and Dictyostelium proteins show 69% similarity at the amino acid level.
