Zusammenfassung: | In the course of screening a cDNA library from the unicellular green alga Chlamydobotrys stellata for photosynthetic proteins, we isolated and partially sequenced a clone, CHL9, that showed sequence similarity to the sequences of rat and chicken ribosomal protein L27. Our interest in further investigating this clone was 2-fold. First, a ribosomal protein probe could serve as a good internal control for gene expression studies of photoregulated proteins because it should show little variation in its expression pattern under varying light regimens. For a corresponding purpose the chicken L27 ribosomal protein gene was isolated and successfully used. Second, we were curious to determine the degree of homology between the putative L27 ribosomal protein from Chlamydobotrys and its counterparts in chicken and rat. |
