For patients who require multiple inhaled drugs, prescribing combination inhalers and avoiding the use of more than one type of inhaler device can reduce errors in inhaler technique and improve adherence. Inhaler technique and adherence should be regularly reviewed. Environmental impact of inhalers can be reduced by optimising symptom control to minimise the need for short-acting beta agonists, and choosing inhalers with a low carbon footprint.
