Prestigious award for Prof. Karl Ulrich Kainer

Professor Karl Ulrich Kainer, former head of the Magnesium Innovation Center at the Institute of Materials Research at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht, received the TMS Fellow Award Class of 2020 during the Annual Meeting of the "Minerals- Metals & Materials Society" (TMS) on February 26, 2020 in San Diego/USA. The TMS Fellow Award is the most prestigious recognition of the 13,000 members of the TMS for achieving the highest professional distinction through professional achievements in the practice of metallurgy and materials science. Kainer was honored for his achievements as a leading authority in the field of global magnesium technology, his contributions to magnesium applications and alloy development, as Director of the Magnesium Innovation Center and as an active promoter of the TMS.
