Zusammenfassung: | Television news is unique because it makes it possible to bring an assortment of events and places to the audience. In addition, it provides a common background and sense of belonging that people feel with no other news media. It makes the individual feel familiar with the people, places, and events being covered. Research has found television news viewers can be divided into 3 major categories: 1. conservative and dependent, 2. conservative and not dependent, and 3. eclectic and less consistent in taking either a liberal or conservative line. Research studies dealing with news shows should: 1. involve station management in the effort, 2. review previous audience studies, 3. conduct station press interviews, 4. view program tapes, 5. implement qualitative research via group sessions, 6. consider statistical quantitative research, and 7. make practical recommendations. |
