Zusammenfassung:Existentialist philosophy has supplemented the helping professions since their founding. Career counseling may benefit from identifying existential constructs based on why work is an important endeavor. Included in this discussion are the essential pillars of existentialism as a theoretical context to career counseling across the lifespan. These concepts surround meaning-making as an essential property to the human condition recognizing that humans need to work and contribute to society. Implications for practice are presented and discussed.
