Zusammenfassung: | In the last two decades, the level of merger and acquisition activity has expanded greatly in Southeast Asia. The value of M&As in ASEAN countries in 1990 as only $15 billion. It increased to $30.6 billion in 1995 and $66.5 billion in 2001. After reviewing the nationality of acquiring firms from nonASEAN countries, it was noted that acquiring firms from Hong Kong, the US, Japan, and the UK were playing significant roles in M&A activity in the ASEAN countries. Increased M&A activities in East Asia and Southeast Asia will provide many opportunities and challenges for potential investors from Asia, Europe, and North America in the future. |
