Attendees at the 1996 Associated Press Managing Editors' conference heard president Bob McGruder claim that newspapers will survive as long as people see the as outlets for getting news. Readers will always be seeking a source from which they can obtain the latest local and national news, and will follow those newspapers which give it to them in the best, most readable, clearest to understand formats. Editors will have to make sure that everything in the newspapers is what readers want to see.
