Zusammenfassung:Discusses efforts to rebuild the cathedral in Salzburg, Germany, following its destruction by a bomb during World War II. Explores attempts to adhere to the original 17th-century design during the reconstruction of the church, the exterior of which was completed in 1949 and the interior in 1959. Examines the role played by the local population in the renovation of the cathedral, as well as their relationship with the master builder Karl Holey, who led the restoration efforts. Includes a discussion of the exhibition "Ins Herz getroffen : Zerstörung und Wiederaufbau des Salzburger Domes 1944-1959" (Struck in the heart : destruction and rebuilding of Salzburg Cathedral 1944-1959), which was on display at the cathedral's museum through 26 October 2009.
