Dissolution of chromium carbide Cr sub(3)C sub(2) in Kh17N2 steel during sintering

The effect of sintering temperature (900-1300 degree C) on the interaction of Cr sub(3)C sub(2) with a Kh17N2 steel matrix is studied. It is shown that complex iron-chromium carbide of (Cr, Fe) sub(x)C sub(y) type forms during sintering. With increasing temperature, it undergoes a number of phase tr...

Zusammenfassung:The effect of sintering temperature (900-1300 degree C) on the interaction of Cr sub(3)C sub(2) with a Kh17N2 steel matrix is studied. It is shown that complex iron-chromium carbide of (Cr, Fe) sub(x)C sub(y) type forms during sintering. With increasing temperature, it undergoes a number of phase transformations. The following mechanism of Cr sub(3)C sub(2) dissolution in the steel matrix is established: Cr sub(3)C sub(2) arrow right 900&#x00 B0; C (Cr, Fe) sub(2)C arrow right 1050 degree C (Cr, Fe) sub(7)C sub(3) arrow right 1200&#x 00B0; C (Cr, Fe) sub(23)C sub(6) arrow right 1300&# x00B0; C (Cr, Fe) sub(2)C.
