Zusammenfassung:The study attempts to deal with the effects of conjunctions as a kind of text signal on Chinese English as a foreign language readers' comprehension & memory of expository texts. Results of tests show that conjunctions facilitate subjects' comprehension & memory of expository texts. The effect of conjunctions on subjects' reading rates is not found to be significant. Conjunctions tend to assist subjects of lower levels under different conditions, but influence subjects of higher levels only when they perform the task under time constraints. 4 Tables, 14 References.
