Zusammenfassung:Ten Down's Syndrome children were enrolled in an experimental program to develop a language curriculum entitled Systematic Language Instruction. Subjects received daily instruction in language while curricula were being developed. Changes in Ss' vocal behavior over a four month period, in settings outside of structured language sessions are reported. Subject by subject responses were compared on measures of vocal behavior. Changes in behavior could not be attributed to a single independent variable. Factors which might have accounted for the increases in vocal behavior are discussed within the context of suggestions to adults (including teachers) that might accelerate the level of vocal behavior in developmentally retarded children.
