Zusammenfassung:A cross-cultural comparative study of the lang & visuals of broadcast news presentations analyzed the news programs on 6 TV channels in 3 countries (GB, West Germany, & the US) for the 2-week period 8-19 May 1978. In particular, a detailed comparison of the lang & style (including macrostructure & descriptive terms) used for a major news story -- the murder of Italian politician Aldo Moro by terrorists -- is presented. The similarity found between the presentations in all three countries suggests an assumed consensus common to the news media of the Western world. 1 Table, 8 References. C. Waters.
