Cancer of the bile duct and chronic ulcerative colitis

A patient with ulcerative colitis presented with signs of obstructive jaundice and subsequently was found at surgery to have bile duct carcinoma. A review of twenty-two previous cases described in the literature suggests a specific association between these two diseases.
