A Lawyer-flight Instructor's Prognostications on the Implementation of Free Flight: How Will the Large-Scale Introduction of GPS Into General Aviation Cockpits Affect the Liabilities That Face Pilots and the Flight Instructors Who Train Them?

Both governmental organizations and the general aviation community must work in concert to identify problems posed by the advant of GPS use by general aviation pilots and flight instructors. The aviation law community must also educate pilots and instructors on the likely ramifications of their failure to train adequately with, and use, GPS equipment in the emerging 'free flight' air traffic management environment.
