Zusammenfassung:The hypothesis that a common cerebral asymmetry dimension is reflected in sets of both lateral and perceptual preference measures was examined in groups of dextrals and sinistrals. A set of eight limb and ocular preference measures and a set of nine visual and auditory perceptual preference measures were administered to thirty-three dextrals, twenty-nine non-familial sinistrals and twenty-seven familial sinistrals. Multivariate analyses of. variance suggested that groups of dextrals and sinistrals may be discriminated by a combined set of lateral and perceptual preference measures, although familial and non-familial sinistral groups cannot be discriminated. The results further suggested that perceptual preference patterns vary according to handedness classification and are relatively independent of each other if different sensory modalities are compared.
