Coincidence of virus encephalitis and measles-mumps vaccination

A 15-month-old girl developed meningoencephalitis 7 days after measles/mumps vaccination, and died 3 days later. No measles or mumps virus was found in brain tissue, but echovirus type 5 could be cultered postmortally on a cervical lymph node.
