Results indicate that chloroquine inhibits tritiated thymidine in a dose-dependent way by interfering with the accessory function of monocytes, and that chloroquine inhibits the generation of immunoglobulin-secreting cells by selectively interfering with the secretion of Interleukin 1 by monocytes.
