Hypertriglyceridemia was not observed, and the women's plasma cholesterol levels were unremarkable. Men, however, showed higher-than-expected total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, and HDL-cholesterol concentrations. The last finding may explain the lack of increased cardiovascular morbidity in this group.
