The prognostic factors were considered to be the degree and pattern of liver cell necrosis, the degree of coma, and the etiology. The combination of twice daily plasmapheresis and intensive conservative therapy was effective for these pediatric patients with fulminant hepatitis, except those with massive hepatic necrosis.
