Zusammenfassung: | The study of specific inhibition of different parts of the cell cycle received its major impetus from the need for developing rational treatments in cancer chemotherapy. The bias of the authors towards this goal will be obvious in the selection of the subject matter and the examples. This article is not intended to provide a comprehensive review of the field. Several excellent reviews and books have appeared recently and will be duly noted. In accordance with their bias, they have limited themselves to mammalian cells in culture and have not covered the extensive studies of the cell cycle in sea urchin embryos, bacteria, or other organisms. |
