Zusammenfassung: | Two patients were discovered to have pulsatile saccular lesions at the base of the left ventricle and mitral regurgitation following blunt trauma to the chest. These aneurysms resembled annular subvalvular aneurysms which have previously been reported as congenital defects in African blacks and as acquired lesions following endocarditis or mitral valve replacement. The first patient had two aneurysms, while the second had an aneurysm in continuity with a traumatic ventricular septal defect. These aneurysms were detected by echocardiography and magnetic resonance imaging and should be sought in patients who develop valvar regurgitation following chest trauma.
