A History of the Detection of Haemophilus ducreyi, 1889–1979

Recent reviews of Haemophilus ducreyi have provided much needed updates on the organism, which has remained relatively obscure. The history of the detection of Haemophilus ducreyi as an agent of chancroid is discussed.
