Zusammenfassung:The removal of barriers to give handicapped young people access to education helps to reduce the gap in opportunities for formation that this group has experienced with respect to the population at large. It also facilitates their social integration & subsequent job placement & allows Spain to be on a par with its neighboring countries. The Education Ministry is responsible for organizing Special Education & taking the necessary measures to provide specialized attention to those students with special needs & facilitate their social integration. Along with a review of the rules governing education for the handicapped, there is a description of both the evolution of the main resources dedicated to Special Education in different regional areas as well as of the policy governing scholarships & grants destined for this group. A map is drawn to illustrate the inequality that exists in the use of educational resources for the disabled & handicapped youth of Spain. Adapted from the source document.
