Zusammenfassung:The use of a contoured supracondylar carbon fibre plate in 22 patients with a fracture of the lower femur is reported. The patients were all elderly (mean age 80.6 years) and three patients in the study died of unrelated medical causes. Of the 19 surviving patients, in 17 the fracture united (89 per cent). The supracondylar plate was technically simple to use and the authors feel that it represents a significant advantage over existing implants for this difficult fracture.
