Zusammenfassung: | Monomorphic adenoma is a benign tumor that may originate in either major or minor salivary glands.
2,3 Those that arise in minor glands occur most frequently in the upper lip, have no strong predilection for either sex, and have occured exclusively in whites. The usual clinical appearance is an asymptomatic, freely movable lump or mass; ulceration of the overlying mucosa is rare.
The case presented is noteworthy because it occurred in the buccal mucosa of an American black and it became ulcerated prior to the patient's seeking professional care. |
