Zusammenfassung:More women die of epithelial ovarian cancer than of all other gynecologic cancers combined. According to the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics, the incidence of epithelial ovarian cancer is 15 per 100,000 women 1 . These cancers are typically diagnosed at an advanced stage, after the cancer has spread throughout the abdominal cavity. Screening for ovarian cancer is difficult. Small tumors can be detected only by ultrasonography, since there are not yet any biochemical markers suitable for the detection of early disease. CA-125 is a protein expressed on the cell membrane of normal ovarian tissue and more than 80 percent . . .
