However, the low point in the distribution varied from 5 to 63 fmol/mg cytosol protein, depending on the receptor, patient age and laboratory. The tendency towards biomodality was more distinct for ER than for PgR. It remains to be determined whether the low points on the frequency histograms have clinical relevance for discriminating between hormone-sensitive and hormone-insensitive tumours.
