Integration of a Fluorescent Molecular Biosensor into Self-Assembled Protein Nanowires: A Large Sensitivity Enhancement

Wire to wire: The hybrid Sup351‐61‐E2GFP‐MPH, which consists of the pH‐sensitive green fluorescent protein E2GFP, the enzyme methyl parathion hydrolase (MPH), and the yeast prion protein Sup351‐61 was obtained by gene fusion. A self‐assembled nanowire was formed through aggregation of the Sup351‐61...

Zusammenfassung:Wire to wire: The hybrid Sup351‐61‐E2GFP‐MPH, which consists of the pH‐sensitive green fluorescent protein E2GFP, the enzyme methyl parathion hydrolase (MPH), and the yeast prion protein Sup351‐61 was obtained by gene fusion. A self‐assembled nanowire was formed through aggregation of the Sup351‐61 subunit (see picture). The wire acts as a biosensor that can detect methyl parathion with a sensitivity 10 000 times greater than free E2GFP‐MPH.
