Zusammenfassung:	Reasoning from an analysis of the potentiality for air hammers to achieve higher energy indices in impact driving of steel elements in soil, the authors show that utilization of boost air pressure sources in impact machines with an elastic valve in air distribution system holds much promise in this case. The paper also presents test data for an experimental air hammer with adjustable parameters.
