Zusammenfassung: | Many factors have dramatically altered the forestry landscape in the Pacific Northwest (PNW) in the past 15 years. These include a shift from a timber base heavily influenced by federal sources; greater reliance on shorter-rotation, plantation-grown trees; and increased competition in traditional markets from wood produced outside the region. Here, Adams et al provide a synthesis of the symposia presentations that address the potential and roles of intensively managed forest plantations in the PNW. |
