Soft Tissue Extremity Abscess: An Atypical Appearance on Ga-67 Scan

Ga-67 detection of an abscess within the soft tissue of an extremity is presented. The scintigraphic image is atypical, having a cold center and hot rim. A physiologic mechanism is proposed to explain its appearance.
