Duodenal somatostatinoma : a rare cause of gastrointestinal bleeding

Presents the case of an 82-year-old man admitted to hospital with GI bleeding, who received a transfusion and presented a month later with a second episode of haematemesis and melaena. Describes investigations which revealed a periampullary polypoid lesion in the second part of the duodenum. Reports that the patient underwent an uncomplicated Whipple's procedure one month after presentation.
